The Eno River. I have always heard so much about the trails at the Eno River, but I never personally had the chance to experience the beauty. This past Saturday morning, the Duke Engage team went kayaking and canoeing at the West End of the Eno! I had only been canoeing once before, so I was really excited to go again. First, we learned some basics on how to control the speed and the direction of the boat, and then we were off! I controlled the speed while my partner, Shangnon, controlled the direction. We were little rough in the beginning, crashing into the rocks and the trees, but we eventually got the hang of it. Our tour guide told us stories of the "bottomless pit of gold and silver" legend, and we even go to go swimming in the area! Everything was going smoothly, until we hear "OH MY GOD, A BIG SPIDER! SPIDER SPIDER!" and a big splash. One of the canoes had flipped over, and David and Aubrey were soaked. The group loved it, and we just couldn't stop talking about it! The scenery was just breath-taking on the Eno as we canoed back to our destination. I am definitely coming back and bringing my friends, so they too can experience what the Eno truly has to offer.
